AVI (Accessori Veicoli Industriali) from Berlingo near Brescia has been developing and building hooklift containers, tipping semi-trailers, vehicle bodies and tail lifts since 1973 – all exclusively in aluminium. It specialises in the collection and transport of category 1, 2 and 3 animal by-products and special and hazardous waste; with more than 50 employees and 1,500 tonnes of aluminium processed per year, it is a reference in Italy and across Europe.

AVI Accessori Veicoli Industriali bets everything on aluminium: at the same dimensions, a body is much lighter than a steel one, and the difference goes directly into payload and fuel savings. Every product is made to measure – the technical office designs it with 3D tools (Inventor, Inventor Nastran, AutoCAD), production uses Industry 5.0 CNC milling and Industry 4.0 robotic welding, and since 2017 the company has had a German subsidiary, EG-TECH, for platform production. Bodies measure up to 12 m in length and 55 m³ in volume.
Aluminium containers for special and hazardous waste

Custom hooklift containers are designed for transporting special and high-risk waste such as biological material, blood and fallen livestock, in line with the requirements for category 1, 2 and 3 animal by-products. The standard version is light, durable and watertight, with a butterfly-wing top cover and fully customisable dimensions and equipment; the version with an integrated loading system simplifies complex handling with an automatic loading and unloading mechanism.
All containers can be fitted with accessories: a locking system for bins emptied into the container, remote control of movements (on/off or proportional), partitions to divide the volume, drainage grids for rapid liquid runoff, a weighing system for continuous load monitoring, side doors for manual loading of smaller batches, and a side loader.
Benefits
- Low tare, more cargo. The aluminium structure is much lighter than steel, so every trip carries more payload at lower fuel consumption – a complete standard container weighs just 1,750 kg.
- Watertightness and compliance. The watertight design and compliance with category 1, 2 and 3 requirements allow the safe transport of high-risk cargo.
- Fully bespoke. Dimensions, cover, loading system and accessories are adapted to the specific application – from bin locking to weighing.
Applications
- Animal by-products – collecting and transporting category 1, 2 and 3 material from slaughterhouses and processing plants.
- Special and hazardous waste – biological material, blood and other high-risk cargo.
- Municipal services and recycling – custom containers for demanding fractions.
Custom thermally insulated aluminium container

The insulated container is designed for transporting and storing goods sensitive to temperature fluctuations: animal by-products, food waste and special waste. The aluminium structure is clad with high-density expanded polystyrene insulation panels (EPS, 30 kg/m³) from 40 to 100 mm thick (80 mm as standard), the underframe is galvanised steel for durability in intensive use, and the hook is standard for hooklift vehicles. Length can be chosen between 4 and 7 m, external width is about 2.50 m and height from 1.50 to 2.80 m; the optional Isolcoat coating further improves insulation.
Accessories include drainage grids for rapid liquid runoff, custom partitions for separating cargo and an inspection hatch for a quick check of the contents.
Benefits
- Thermal protection without a refrigeration unit. Highly insulating EPS panels keep conditions inside stable and save energy.
- Light and durable. Aluminium is corrosion-resistant and mechanically robust at low weight, so maintenance is minimal.
- Compatible with the existing fleet. The standard hook allows handling with ordinary hooklift vehicles.
Applications
- Animal by-products and food waste – transport without temperature shocks.
- Temperature-sensitive goods – transport and interim storage in stable conditions.
- Special waste – fractions requiring a closed, insulated space.
Insulated container with integrated refrigeration unit

For high-risk, temperature-sensitive cargo, the insulated container is fitted with a built-in electric refrigeration unit that keeps the interior at an adjustable temperature from +20 to –10 °C. The system consists of a 5.5 hp motor-compressor (BOCK or BITZER), a condenser with two 400 mm fans and an evaporator with a 350 mm fan; a digital controller with an external display manages the temperature electronically, and defrosting runs automatically on a timer. The entire refrigeration assembly is built as a removable monoblock for rapid on-site maintenance.
Drainage grids, custom partitions and an inspection hatch are available, as well as the optional installation of a generator that keeps the refrigeration running during transport itself.
Benefits
- Controlled temperature from +20 to –10 °C. The digital controller maintains the set temperature and shows it on the external display.
- Rapid maintenance. The removable monoblock comes off easily for servicing, keeping downtime short.
- Cooling on the road too. With the optional generator, the refrigeration system works during transport, not just when plugged in.
Applications
- Category 1 and 2 animal by-products – refrigerated collection and transport from slaughterhouses and processing.
- Biologically hazardous cargo – material requiring an unbroken cold chain.
- Longer journeys and high outside temperatures – stable conditions regardless of weather and route.
Aluminium tipping semi-trailers for special transport

Light-alloy tipping semi-trailers are designed for the safe, reliable transport of inert waste, sludges and hazardous and toxic substances – with exceptional structural strength at minimal tare weight and in line with category 1, 2 and 3 requirements. They come in four versions: a standard one with an optimised tipping mechanism and top cover, a version with an automatic loading and unloading system for demanding handling of heavy waste, an insulated version for temperature-sensitive cargo, and an insulated version with a refrigeration unit for toxic and biologically hazardous cargo.
They can be fitted with the same accessories as the containers – bin locking, remote control, partitions, drainage grids, a weighing system and side doors – as well as a column tail lift or a side loader.
Benefits
- More payload per trip. The minimal tare of the aluminium structure means more paid payload on every journey.
- A version for the application. Four families – from the standard tipper to the refrigerated one – cover practically all special transport.
- Safe discharge. The optimised tipping mechanism, cover and bin locking ensure controlled unloading.
Applications
- Construction and inert waste – soil, sludges and building materials.
- Animal by-products and hazardous and toxic substances – transport where tightness and compliance count.
- Long-distance transport – where low tare directly cuts costs.
Aluminium bodies for special vehicles

Custom truck bodies are designed for transporting special materials, toxic and noxious substances and sensitive cargo directly on the vehicle chassis. Like the semi-trailers, they come in a standard version with a robust modular structure for bulk and general cargo, with an integrated automatic loading and unloading system that raises productivity and safety in delicate handling, in an insulated version, and in an insulated version with a refrigeration unit for biologically hazardous cargo. All meet the requirements for category 1, 2 and 3 animal by-products.
The choice of accessories is the same as for the containers and semi-trailers, including the side loader and the column tail lift.
Benefits
- Tailored to the vehicle and the cargo. The body is designed for the specific chassis and the specific application, not the other way round.
- Robust and light. The aluminium structure combines high strength with minimal tare weight.
- Safety through every phase of transport. From loading to unloading, in line with categories 1, 2 and 3.
Applications
- Collecting animal by-products – vehicles for pick-up at slaughterhouses, butcheries and processing plants.
- Toxic and noxious substances – transport with controlled risk.
- Sensitive cargo – insulated and refrigerated versions for temperature-critical transport.
Aluminium tail lifts

AVI designs and builds custom aluminium tail lifts (loading platforms) with capacities from 400 to 3,000 kg, suitable for vehicles of all sizes – from 3.5-tonne chassis to semi-trailers. The certified aluminium structures meet international standards and deliver lower tare weight, higher payload and high operational efficiency. Every platform is made entirely in-house: the technical office designs it in 3D CAD with FEM load simulations (NASTRAN), followed by Industry 5.0 CNC milling, Industry 4.0 robotic welding and final assembly with strict safety and compliance testing.
With more than 3,500 possible configurations, a platform can also be put together in the online configurator, while series production of platforms is complemented by the German subsidiary EG-TECH.
Benefits
- Capacities from 400 to 3,000 kg. One programme covers everything from light vans to semi-trailers.
- Lower tare, more cargo. An aluminium platform is lighter than a comparable steel one, and the difference goes into the vehicle's payload.
- Certified safety. FEM calculations, robotic welding and final testing of every platform.
Applications
- Distribution and delivery – lifting pallets and roll cages on daily deliveries.
- Municipal and service vehicles – handling equipment and bins in the field.
- Semi-trailers and heavier vehicles – versions up to 3,000 kg capacity.
